Science Ninja Team Gatchaman Gets New TV Flash Shorts
posted on by Egan Loo
The Zip! television program on the NTV network launched a series of one-minute Flash-animated shorts based on Tatsunoko Production's classic science-fiction hero series Science Ninja Team Gatchaman on Monday. Ohayō Ninja-Tai Gatchaman (Good Morning Ninja Team Gatchaman) runs every weekday at about 6:50 a.m., and episodes are then posted online, although the videos are restricted to Japanese Internet addresses. Bose and Ani of the Japanese rap group Scha Dara Parr (Tokyo Tribe 2) voices the characters along with actor Tomu Miyazaki (Honey and Clover) and artist Maho Shimao.
Tatsunoko Production had previously launched Tachumaru Gekijō, a 2010-2011 television series of Flash-animated shorts based on its anime classics. Tachumaru Gekijō re-imagined the characters of Gatchaman, Shinzō Ningen Casshan/Casshern, and Golden Warrior - The Gold Lightan as a newly evolved species of super-deformed animals known as "Tachū-rui."
The anime series in the Gatchaman franchise were adapted, with varying degrees of faithfulness, into English under the names Battle of the Planets, G-Force, and Eagle Riders.
