posted on by Egan Loo
Supernatural: The Anime Series, Madhouse's adaptation of the American live-action television series Supernatural, will have a preview screening at Anime Expo in Los Angeles in July, followed by a preview screening at Comic-Con International in San Diego later that month. Warner Bros. Television will release the series via Blu-ray Disc, DVD, video on demand, and download in North America on July 26. The series debuted in Japan with a starter disc on February 23.
The original live-action series Supernatural follows the Winchester brothers Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) as they hunt creatures and other supernatural phenomena across the American landscape. Directors Shigeyuki Miya and Atsuko Ishizuka adapted the general storyline from the live-action version's first two seasons with re-imagined stories as well as new stories. Padalecki, the co-lead actor on the live-action series, dubbed all 22 episodes of the first anime season. However, co-star Ackles only dubbed "select" episodes of Supernatural: The Anime Series.
