Red Riding Hood Cha Cha Manga Returns in 1-Shot Story
posted on by Egan Loo
Manga creator Min Ayahana is bringing back her most well-known work, the shōjo fantasy comedy Red Riding Hood Cha Cha (Akazukin Cha Cha), in a one-shot story called Akazukin Cha Cha N on March 26. The first new story in over a decade will run in the May issue of Shueisha's Cookie magazine.
Red Riding Hood Cha Cha originally ran in Shueisha's Ribon magazine from 1992 to 2000. It followed the daily slapstick adventures of a budding magician named Cha cha, a wolf boy named Riiya, and a magician's apprentice named Shiine. The manga inspired a loose 1994-1995 television anime adaptation in which Cha Cha could transform into a Magical Princess during the first year of episodes. A three-episode 1995-1996 original video anime project came after the television series.
The May issue of Cookie will also have a new Stinger Girl series by Mihoko Kojima (Kokuhaku Gokko) and a one-shot Rokudenashi no Miyako story from Yuki Satō. The current April issue features a Tomodachi Ijō ~Wazuka 5cm~ short story (pictured at left) from Mari Okazaki (Suppli) and a Good Morning Kiss side story from Yue Takasuka.
