The first film in Shinsuke Satō's live-action adaptation of Hiroya Oku's Gantz action manga returned from #2 to #1 in its fourth weekend on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart. On Box Office Mojo's chart, it stayed at #1; it earned the equivalent of US$2,222,846 on 410 screens to add to its total of US$31,111,742.
The live-action film version of Asao Takamori and Tetsuya Chiba's classic boxing manga Ashita no Joe slipped from #3 to #4 in its second weekend with US$1,633,834 on 277 screens. It now has a gross-to-date of US$7,589,848.
The live-action film adaptation of Mainichi Kaa-san stayed at #6 in its third weekend on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart. On Box Office Mojo's chart, it rose from #7 to #6, earning US$705,163 on 134 screens. It now has a total of US$4,633,465.
Tensō Sentai Goseiger vs. Shinkenger Epic on Ginmaku, the live-action special-effects film with heroes from Toei's 33rd and 34th Super Sentai series, was no longer listed on either chart.
