Kyō, Koi o Hajimemasu Song by French Kiss is #2 Weekly (Updated)
posted on by Egan Loo
"If," the second single from the AKB48 idol group's sub-unit French Kiss and the theme song for the new Kyō, Koi o Hajimemasu original video anime, sold 67,000 copies to rank #2 on Oricon's sales chart for the January 17-23 week. The unit's debut single, "Zutto Mae Kara," reached #5 when it shipped on September 8 of last year.
In collaboration with the Kyō, Koi o Hajimemasu manga, Avex Marketing released no less than three different versions of "If" on CD: a standalone CD single, a CD single with an original live-action DVD drama performed by the French Kiss singers as schoolgirls in the world of the manga, and a third version with a DVD containing a "voice comic" of the manga (voice-acted by French Kiss) and a music video.
The manga already inspired two anime DVDs which the publisher Shogakukan bundled with the manga's ninth and 10th volumes this year, and the new video anime will ship on February 25. The manga has been running in Shogakukan's Sho-Comi magazine since 2008, and over five million copies of the compiled book volumes have been published.
