Sentai Filmworks Adds Ghost Sweeper Mikami TV Anime
posted on by Egan Loo
The North American anime licensor Sentai Filmworks has announced on Wednesday that it licensed the Ghost Sweeper Mikami television anime series. The 1993-1994 supernatural action comedy adapts Takashi Shiina's manga about an avaricious ghost hunter named Reiko Mikami and her loyal yet hapless assistant Tadao Yokoshima. Manga Entertainment had once licensed the 45-episode television anime and its 1994 film spinoff, but only released the film in English.
Shiina's original GS Mikami Gokuraku Daisakusen!! manga ran in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine from 1991 to 1999, and 39 book volumes were compiled and published in Japan. Shiina has since created the Zettai Karen Children manga which inspired its own anime franchise.
