Basquash's Itagaki Writing, Directing Bishōjo Anime Work
posted on by Egan Loo
Shin Itagaki, the former director of Basquash!, Black Cat, and Devil May Cry, has revealed in a Thursday entry in his Web Anime Style Column that he has been writing and preparing to direct an unspecified new bishōjo anime for next year. He notes that it has been six or seven years since he wrote for anime, and that writing dialogue for girls is still awkward for him. (He previously wrote the scenario work for 2004's This Ugly Yet Beautiful World.) Having finished the new anime's scenario phase, he is now storyboarding the project.
Itagaki was abruptly replaced as the main director of the Basquash! anime — along with other staffers — just two months after the series premiered on Japanese television in April. He has since contributed to Seiji Mizushima and Gainax's January anime adaptation of Yuto's Hanamaru Kindergarten manga.
