Inuyasha Shop to Open in Japanese Department Store
posted on by Egan Loo
Not-So-Daily Link of the Day: An Inuyasha Premium Shop will open within Tokyo's Kichijoji Parco fashion department store from December 16 to January 4. The store will sell limited-edition character goods based on Rumiko Takahashi's Inuyasha manga and anime. Kappei Yamaguchi, the voice actor for the title character, will appear at the store on December 23 to shake hands with fans and offer a chance for his autograph.
Starting on Tuesday, omamori amulet charms, t-shirts, mobile phone straps, and other items are also being sold online on the Parco City website. One item, a color Serigraph art piece of the main characters Inuyasha and Kagome, is serial-numbered and limited to 100 copies. The physical shop will also offer the first DVD of the InuYasha: The Final Act anime. Within the physical shop, there will be an exhibit area for scripts, storyboards, and other production materials from the first Inuyasha anime and InuYasha: The Final Act.
There have been in-store shops, entire mall stores, and even amusement parks dedicated to a single manga or anime franchise, such as One Piece and Anpanman. However, there has not been a shop dedicated to one Takahashi work in years. The MATSUYA GINZA department store did host "It's a Rumic World" exhibition and shopping area for all of Takahashi's works last year.
Viz Media distributes both the Inuyasha manga and the anime in North America, and it has been simulcasting InuYasha: The Final Act since it premiered in October.
