Kindaichi's Fumiya Sato Runs for Japanese Legislature
posted on by Egan Loo
The religious organization Kōfuku no Kagaku launched a political party called Kōfuku Jitsugen-tō at a Wednesday convention, and it is fielding 17 candidates for Japan's legislature, including Kindaichi Case Files manga artist Fumiya Sato. The 43-year-old creator will run for Fukuoka Prefecture's 8th district — which happens to be the home district of Tarō Asō, the politician who once half-jokingly said that he is more well known in Japan for being a manga geek than prime minister. Among the other Kōfuku Jitsugen-tō candidates are former NTV newscaster Junko Tanaka and THE BLUE HEARTS rock band's bassist Junnosuke Kawaguchi.
In addition to Kindaichi Case Files which both Tokyopop and Kodansha released with English translations, Sato has drawn the Tetsujin Dakkan Sakusen manga.
