RahXephon's Izubuchi to Resume Rune Masquer Manga
posted on by Egan Loo
Anime designer and director Yutaka Izubuchi will return to his first manga story after 18 years when he resumes his Kishin Gensō Rune Masquer series in the August issue of Tokuma Shoten's Monthly Comic Ryū magazine in June. The fantasy armored mecha manga will run bimonthly. Izubuchi originally launched his manga in Fujimi Shobo's Monthly Dragon Magazine in 1991, but only one volume was compiled and published then.
To prepare for the manga's return, Tokuma republished that earlier first volume on Thursday. On the same day, the May issue of Comic Ryū shipped with a 112-page supplemental book that collected Izubuchi's other manga that have yet to be compiled.
Izubuchi has been designing mecha in anime since he worked on the enemy robots in Tōshō Daimos in 1979. He has since worked on Record of Lodoss War, Mobile Police Patlabor, Aura Battler Dunbine, Jin-Roh - The Wolf Brigade, and dozens of other anime titles. He designed mecha and even costumes for several Gundam projects: Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack, Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, and Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO. He also created and directed the RahXephon anime and manga franchise.
