Japanese Box Office, February 28-March 1 (Updated)

The second film in Yukihiko Tsutsumi's three-part adaptation of Naoki Urasawa's 20th Century Boys manga slipped from #2 to #3 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's Japanese box office chart during the February 28-March 1 weekend. According to Box Office Mojo, 20th Century Boys Part II: Saigo no Kibō earned the equivalent of US$1,737,488 on 374 screens in its fifth weekend for a gross-to-date of US$28,825,366.
Yojiro Takita's live-action Departures (Okuribito) film catapulted again from #7 to #1 after it won the Oscar in the Foreign Language Film category on February 22. 25 weeks after its opening, it added US$3,583,099 to its gross-to-date of US$42,997,788 on 189 screens. That is a 470% jump from the previous week's box office take.
Takahisa Zeze's live-action film adaptation of Masasumi Kakizaki's Kansen Rettō horror manga dropped from #10 off the chart in its seventh weekend.
