Novel about U.S. Manga Editor in Tokyo Slated for April
posted on by Egan Loo
On April 14, the American company St. Martin's Press will publish Turning Japanese, a new novel in which self-professed "chick lit" author Cathy Yardley depicts a young woman's experience as an intern at a Tokyo manga publisher. Although the book's protagonist is half-Japanese, she has to deal with culture shock, clashes with the other editors at the office, and issues in her personal life. The book's list price will be US$13.95, and it is already available for pre-order on Amazon.com
Yardley, who herself is an "Asian-Caucasian-American" and writes what she calls "women's fiction," has authored 12 novels, as well as a non-fiction How to Write a Chick Lit Novel book. So far, most of her novels have come from the romance imprint Harlequin Blaze.
