posted on by Egan Loo
The North American publisher Del Rey Manga has announced on Friday that it acquired Ninja Girls, Hosana Tanaka's historical action comedy manga that is known in Japan as Rappi Rangai. The story centers on Raizō, young man who lives during Japan's tumultuous Warring States Era — and happens to have a horn growing out of his forehead. One day, he rescues a beautiful kunoichi (female ninja) named Kagari from drowning and discovers that he is the last legitimate heir of the ruling family. One female ninja after another arrive to protect Raizō and help him ascend to his throne.
The manga runs in Kodansha's Monthly Shōnen Sirius magazine, and the sixth compiled volume of the manga will be published in Japan next month. Tanaka was the former assistant and protégé of Takashi Shiina (GS Mikami Gokuraku Daisakusen!!, Zettai Karen Children), and Ninja Girls is Tanaka's first manga to be published in North America.
