Bandai Entertainment Adds Ghost in the Shell: Innocence
posted on by Egan Loo
The North American anime distributor Bandai Entertainment has announced at Kawaii Kon on Saturday that it will be re-releasing Mamoru Oshii's Ghost in the Shell: Innocence film on DVD and Blu-ray Disc with an English dub. The American production company DreamWorks initially released the movie in theaters and on DVD with subtitles in 2004, but with no English dubbing. Bandai Entertainment President and CEO Ken Iyadomi said that the English dub is an "all-new" one from the same studio that dubbed the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society television movie.
An Innocence dub had already been released in the United Kingdom by Manga Entertainment in 2006, but not in North America by DreamWorks. Bandai Entertainment emphasized that its dubbing will be a new one that is still being recorded in Los Angeles. Bandai Entertainment's Blu-ray Disc release of Innocence will be the first disc in that format from this company.
