posted on by Evan Miller
Six officials working for Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) were the subject of national media attention on Thursday when they were caught updating Wikipedia articles about the anime series Gundam on company time. One employee was specifically accused of over 200 updates to the popular user-supported online encyclopedia. The story was covered by the Yomiuri Shimbun paper, Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) Television, and other news agencies amid growing concerns about public officials who are caught using taxpayer-supported equipment and work time for personal use. The public officials involved received a verbal reprimand for the offense. Source: Yomiuri Shimbun
