'A Country Doctor' Wins Ottawa Animation Fest's Prize

"Franz Kafka's A Country Doctor (Franz Kafka's Inaka Isha)," a theatrical short by Japanese director Kōji Yamamura, won the Grand Prize in the Short Animation category of this year's Ottawa International Animation Festival, which was held in Ottawa, Canada from September 19 to September 23. The 21-minute film is based on a short story by German author Franz Kafka. Yamamura's 2002 short "Atama-yama" ("Mt. Head") won three of its 23 awards at the festivals in Annecy, France; Zagreb, Croatia; and Hiroshima, Japan. With his newest film's win, the director has now won a grand prize at the top four animation film festivals in the world. Source: animeanime.jp
