Japanese Voice Actors Win In Court

The Japanese Supreme Court ruled this past week that Japan's largest animation production company to pay royalties to voice actors and actresses for the sales of videotapes of animated films in which they acted.
Manichi Daily News reported that the Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld a lower court ruling that ordered Nippon Animation Co. to pay royalties to voice actors and actresses for the sales of videotapes of animated films in which they acted. The combined amount is 87 million yen to around 360 voice actors and actresses. Plantiffs involved with the court proceedings include Masako Nozawa and Ichirō Nagai.
