Oshii considering a segment of French movie, and Tachiguishi Retsuden due in 2005
Earlier this month, we reported that Mamoru Oshii might be contributing to a segment of upcoming Coen brothers movie "Paris, Je T'aime" (Paris i Love You) Brian Ruh, author of Stray Dog of Anime: The Films of Mamoru Oshii has informed us that he has confirmed with Mamoru Oshii that he may work on Paris, Je T'aime, but nothing is final yet. Oshii informed Ruh that, "There has definitely been an offer from the producers of 'Paris Je T'aime' and we are contemplating it. We are deciding whether to do it or not with the Production I.G staff and the producer of Production I.G"
Meanwhile, it was announced via Mamoru Oshii's own column in Monthly Saizo that his novel "Tachiguishi Retsuden" will be turned into a movie in 2005, directed by the author himself. The idea stems from a comment by Production I.G president Mitsuhisa Ishikawa who said, "Let's make an Oshii gag anime." Rather than an out-and-out gag-anime, they decided to turn Oshii's humorous novel into a humorous movie. Further details, including whether or not it is animated or live action, have yet to be released.
