Funimation contacted ANN recently with some clarifications regarding the new Dragon Ball dub, Blue Gender on TV, the Blue Gender Movie, Yū Yū Hakusho, and Dragon Ball GT
FUNimation is still in negotiations with Cartoon Network over the televising of Blue Gender. Both are confident that negotiations will end soon, and Blue Gender will be joining the Adult Swim Action line up. With its mature themes and fantasy violence, Adult Swim is the only practical venue. Nothing has been said about possible edits. As part of their original deal with AIC, FUNimation has the rights to the Blue Gender Movie. No plans have been set in stone as to what the movie release will contain, but expect the same cast as that from the TV series.
Yū Yū Hakusho is joining the Toonami afternoon block. The episodes shown are currently available in edited version on DVD. Uncut episodes will continue to be found on DVD releases.
FUNimation is gearing up for the release of Dragon Ball GT. The official DBGT website has been open for the last few weeks. They currently have a karaoke contest on their website where fans can create their own version of the theme song. Winners will be included in future DVD releases as extras. The DVD will also feature the original Japanese openings and closings with the original music.
Recent news about the redubbing of the first 53 episodes of Dragon Ball Z erroneously listed The Ocean Group as handling the new dub. While The Ocean Group was integral to the creation of the original Dub, FUNimation will be handling the Dub in house with the current cast of actors reprising their roles.
