The final box office figures for The Princess Mononoke's opening weekend in limited release in North American theaters are in. Opening in 4 cities (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Boston), and showing on 8 screens, Mononoke brought in $144,446 total in ticket sales for a per-theater average of $18,056. As far as limited release openings go, this is a strong start, it launched the film into the number 33 position in Daily Variety's top 40 film chart.
