Crunchyroll Transports Bollywood Stars Rashmika Mandanna and Tiger Shroff Into Their Own Anime
posted on by Adriana Hazra
Crunchyroll launched its first Indian advertising campaign on Saturday with two anime shorts by Japanese studios starring Indian actors Rashmika Mandanna and Tiger Shroff. Celebrating Mandanna's birthday as well as in anticipation of the upcoming Indian Premiere League cricket tournament, the "Wish Your World Was Anime" campaign is designed to spirit away anime fans' souls across the nation. The first ad, created by Drive Inc., features Mandanna as she gets transported into a beautiful Ghibli-esque world of animated wonder and whimsy.
ARECT, Inc. created Tiger Shroff's ad video, which celebrates India's passion for anime as well as sports. With callbacks to many of the greats, the actor and shonen fan makes an epic transformation as he owns the football field.
Fans, surprised and delighted at the global collaboration in this commercial project, are now hoping to see artists from their own country make a legendary anime someday.
Crunchyroll announced its promotional partnership Shroff on July 14, and announced its partnership with Rashmika Mandanna on July 18.
Rashmika Mandanna presented at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards on March 2 in Tokyo. The company also recently gifted the actress a portrait of her as a shinobi as a nod to her favorite anime Naruto Shippūden. The company also gifted Tiger Shroff an anime-style portrait in November.
