Archaia's Cyborg 009 Graphic Novel Previewed

5-page all-color preview posted for N. American publisher's reimagining of Shotari Ishinomori's classic manga

The comics news website Comic Book Resources posted a five-page all-color preview for the North American graphic novel publisher Archaia Publishing's Cyborg 009 graphic novel. The new graphic novel reimagines Shōtarō Ishinomori's classic-science fiction manga Cyborg 009 "from a modern, Western aesthetic."

Archaia is collaborating with Ishimori Productions on the project. FJ DeSanto (Immortals: Gods and Heroes) and Bradley Cramp (Invertigo) are writing the story, and Marcus To (Red Robin, The Huntress) is illustrating the graphic novel. Archaia will release the graphic novel in a deluxe hardcover edition early this year.

The digital comics platform Comixology announced in October that will also release the graphic novel, and it has also licensed the entire catalog of Ishinomori's works, including Cyborg 009.

In the original manga, the secret Black Ghost organization transforms nine unsuspecting humans into cyborgs. However, the nine cyborgs turn on their masters and protect the rest of humanity from Black Ghost's plans for world war.
