posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The entertainment trade news source Variety reported on Tuesday that actor Bill Paxton (Apollo 13, Twister, Hatfields & McCoys) is in negotiations to costar in the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka's Japanese prose novel All You Need Is Kill. Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, and Charlotte Riley are already slated to star in the film.
The original book is about a soldier (Cruise) in a robot power suit who finds himself in a time loop, dying and re-incarnating over and over again during an alien invasion. Paxton would play the tough leader of Cruise's platoon.
Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Mr. and Mrs. Smith) is directing. The film is set to begin production in London's Leavesden Studios this fall.
Viz Media published Sakurazaka's novel in English to launch its Haikasoru imprint for Japanese science fiction and fantasy in 2009. The book's cover art was drawn by Yoshitoshi ABe (Serial Experiments Lain, Haibane Renmei).
