Over 500 Kirby Fans Burst Bubblegum World Record

Fans gathered at Penny Arcade Expo to celebrate Kirby's 20th anniversary

The official Twitter account for Nintendo America posted that 536 fans helped break the Guinness World Record for most simultaneous bubblegum bubbles. The standing record required over 304 people to attend. Fans in pink shirts crowded into Queue Room 4A in the Washington Convention Center at Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) to celebrate Kirby's 20th anniversary by blowing bubblegum bubbles.

The pink vacuum-mouthed character first appeared in HAL Laboratory's Kirby's Dream Land for the Nintendo Game Boy in 1992. The character has since appeared in some 20 game titles and made cameos in others, including the Super Smash Bros. series, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, EarthBound, and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga.
