Dramafever, Viki to Stream Korean Live-Action Hana-Kimi
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
To the Beautiful You, the Korean live-action television adaptation of Hisaya Nakajo's Hana Zakari no Kimi-tachi e (Hana-Kimi) shōjo romance manga, will stream with English subtitles on the Dramafever and Viki websites.
Korean production company SM Entertainment began production on the 16-episode series last summer. In the drama, Goo Jae Hee (Sulli) falls in love with a Korean high jumper she sees on TV, Kang Tae Joon (Choi Minho). Determined to become closer to him, Jae Hee transfers to Korea into Tae Joon's school. The catch is, Tae Joon attends an all-boys school so Jae Hee cuts off all her hair and masquerades as a boy.
The manga has sold over 17 million copies in Japan, and Viz Media finished publishing the 23 manga volumes in North America in 2008. A live-action Taiwanese adaptation aired in 2006, and Hana Zakari no Kimi-tachi e: Ikemen Paradise, a Japanese live-action television version, ran in Japan in 2007. Atsuko Maeda, the AKB48 member who is leaving the idol group this month, starred in a second Japanese live-action television version last year.
Viki plans to begin streaming To the Beautiful You on Wednesday.
