posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The 21st issue of Kodansha's Good! Afternoon magazine revealed on Wednesday that a manga adaptation of Yūsuke Kishi's Aku no Kyōten (Lesson of the evil) novel will launch in the next issue on May 7. Manga artist Eiji Karasuyama (God Eater: Kyūseishu no Kikan, Satanikus Enma Kerberos) will illustrate the 2010 psychological suspense novel's adaptation. A manga adaptation of Kishi's award-winning 2008 speculative-fiction novel Shin Sekai Yori (From the New World) will also premiere in the June issue of Kodansha's Shōnen Magazine on May 9.
Takashi Miike (Yatterman, Crows Zero) will direct a live-action adaptation of Aku no Kyōten. The film will star Hideaki Ito (Onmyoji, Sukiaki Western Django) as an always-smiling and popular high school teacher who is also a psychopath and begins to murder his students.
From the New World (Shin Sekai Yori), will also receive a television anime adaptation from A-1 Pictures. Masashi Ishihama, the character designer and animation director of the Read or Die franchise and Welcome to THE SPACE SHOW, is directing the series. The novel's story follows five children who live in a tranquil town while people with the "gods' power" of telekinesis rule the world.
