Friends: Naki of Monster Island Dance Clip Streamed
posted on by Kimberly Grace
The Twitch film website began streaming a 65-second dance clip for the 3D computer-animated film Friends: Mononoke Shima no Naki (Friends: Naki of Monster Island) on Wednesday. The promotional video contains no footage from the actual film, but features the main characters Kotake and Naki singing and performing a "cute dance."
The live-action Space Battleship Yamato film's Takashi Yamazaki wrote and directed the film. SMAP band member Shingo Katori stars as Naki, a red oni (Japanese demon/ogre). Veteran voice actor Kouichi Yamadera (Cowboy Bebop's Spike, Evangelion's Kaji) plays a blue oni named Gunjō. Japanese R&B singer Misia sang Charlie Chaplin's "Smile" as the movie's theme song.
Japanese film distributor TOHO posted seven clips from Friends: Mononoke Shima no Naki earlier this month. The anime's official website is also streaming two full trailers, two teaser trailers, and three television commercials.
The film opened in Japan in stereoscopic 3D and traditional 2D versions on December 17.
