JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Sells Chewing Gum in Japan
posted on by Egan Loo
The snack maker Ezaki Glico announced on December 7 that it is collaborating with Hirohiko Araki's manga JoJo's Bizarre Adventure on a sales campaign for its Watering Kissmint chewing gum. From December 20 to the end of next February, convenience stores throughout Japan will sell the gum in limited-time JoJo's Bizarre Adventure packaging.
The gum will come in four varieties in the campaign: Juicy Muscat grape with Jōtarō Kūjō on the package, BreathShower (flavor changes from green apple to mint) with Noriaki Kakyoin, FlavorChange (from pineapple to mint) with Josef Joestar and Iggy, and Juicy Double Berry with Mohammed Abdul and Jean Pierre Polnareff.
Exaki Glico notes that JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is popular with men in their 30s — a prime customer base for convenience stores. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year.
As part of the present campaign in this collaboration, each package will include a serial number and a URL (with QR code) for the campaign's website. 250 winners will be selected from the site's entrants to receive the complete set of original character cards from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. 4,000 will receive a set of three cards. Everyone who enters will also be able to download one of four different wallpapers.
