posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The Japanese mobile phone service provider SoftBank announced on Thursday that it will release a Hello Kitty Android smartphone. Sharp made the "SoftBank 007SH KT" phone, which will go on sale in the beginning of September, in "antique berry" color.
The Android 2.3 flip phone features a touch screen and a Hello Kitty theme for its menu screen, wallpaper, e-mail decorations, calculator, and alarm clock. The phone's display screen has a swivel mechanism, allowing users to rotate it 180 degrees to hide or use the keypad. The phone is also capable of recording high-definition (1280x720-pixel) video and receiving Japan's 1seg television reception.
SoftBank released a limited-edition phone to mark the 30th anniversary of the first plastic model kit from Sunrise's Gundam robot anime franchise last year. There have also been more than one Evangelion phone.
