A number of musical pieces in the series are taken from the soundtrack for the Ace wo Nerae! movie.
Just before 'The Rose of Versailles' aired on TV, 'Lupin III' episode number 101 "Versailles Burned in Love" aired on 1979 September 17th. In this episode, Oscar promises to tell Lupin where Maria Antoinette's coronal is in order to for him to steal it, in return for halving it. But she betrays him in order to get the coronal for herself. This was because she was goint to drink the medicine in the blue pearl on the coronel that turns people into stone in order to join her eternal love Andre, who turned into stone. Here, Lupin doesn't realise that Oscar is a woman and hesistates when he feels attracted to her. The voice actress was the same as TV anime of 'The Rose of Versailles'; Reiko Tajima.
Wasn't officially released in America until 34 years after it was released in Japan.
