Kappei Yamaguchi, Kikuko Inoue, Kōichi Yamadera, Megumi Hayashibara, Minami Takayama, Noriko Hidaka, & Rei Sakuma are the only voice actors from the 1989 Ranma TV anime cast to reprise their original roles. While Kenichi Ogata who previously voiced Genma Saotome in the 1989 Ranma voices the opening narration instead.

David Kaye is the only voice actor from the 1989 Ranma TV anime's Viz Media English dub to reappraise his role as the Opening Narrator.

Ichiro, the member of the Furinkan High's broadcasting club is an anime exclusive character who didn't originate from the original Ranma manga or the 1989 Ranma TV anime.

According to Tomokazu Seki, he was instructed by the director to ad-lib upon voicing Ichiro during his commentating of the matches.

The title used in episode 1, is identical to the Japanese title of the manga’s first chapter and the English title of the 1989 TV anime.

In episode 1, the "Here Come the Princes" poster seen in Nabiki's room is a parody of the Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night" album cover.

The opening narration in episode 2 is a shot-to-shot recreation of the 1989 Ranma TV anime's opening narration which was shown before many episodes of the second and third season as a way to summarize the basic premise of the series.

In episode 2, one of Ichiro's comments "He's as fast as the racer, Ayrton.", he is referring to the Brazilian race car driver Ayrton Senna who was active from the years 1984 to 1994. He died while racing and his state funeral was attended by an estimated three million people.

The English title used in episode 3 is the first episode to not be directly named after a chapter in the manga or a previous episode from the 1989 anime.
