No Anime Nominated for Golden Globes

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominees on Monday for the 74th Annual Golden Globes. No anime films were nominated in the Best Motion Picture - Animated category.
The animated film nominees are:
- Kubo and the Two Strings
- Moana
- My Life as a Zucchini
- Sing
- Zootopia
The Golden Globes changed its rules in 2014 to stipulate that foreign animated films must compete in the Best Animated Feature category, and are no longer eligible for the Best Foreign Language Film category. The most recent anime to receive a nomination was Hayao Miyazaki's The Wind Rises, which was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 71st Annual Golden Globes three years ago.
Production I.G's Miss Hokusai, Michael Dudok de Wit and Studio Ghibli's The Red Turtle, and Makoto Shinkai's your name. were nominated for this year's Annie Awards in the new Best Animated Feature-Independent category. These three films, along with Takeshi Nozue's Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV CG-animated film, were submitted for Oscar nominations in the Best Animated Feature category.
The awards ceremony will be held on January 8, 2017.
