Ah, I can`t wait for this series to be released on DVD. I think it was one of the best series produced last year.
Cool bonus features, too! I am going to be in geek heaven! Wink

An Anime DVD with actual features other than American voice actor crap?!

I finally have to upgrade from my old fansubs at last.

So...when does it come out?

I've been reading the manga and its really good, I hope the anime could compare. A sweet set of extras as well. I was beginning to think there are no such things as extras nowadays.

I was going to buy it bare-bones, because I think the manga's gorgeous, but, well, extras are better than no extras so I'm not going to complain.

I guess Bandai's making this a higher-profile title than I initially thought. I thought Planetes was just going to be another "sleeper" title for them since it's not overly angsty or epic like so many of the other sci-fi titles that seem to get the most hype.

A release date would be nice, as I pretty much have to plan ahead if I want to buy a DVD these days.

Well, Bandai isn't charging more for the extras being provided (MSRP $29.98), so there shouldn't be any reason to complain. ^_^

Well, the particular forum thread on AoDVD had this hint:

Well, there's nothing that can compare to the greatness of the manga. Smile Though the anime, as different as it is from the original, is still great. It's main bad point is that it's a slow starter with so-so first 6 episodes. However from episode 7 an on it's a wonderful ride and probably the best anime space sci-fi show... or rather the only *real* anime space sci-fi show. Smile

Heheh, this news post says "eater eggs" instead of "easter eggs." Amusing typo.

I've heard a lot of good things about Planetes anime and manga, I'm looking forward to this dvd!

I love Planetes. The manga is amazing. Just got the last volume and I loved every bit of it. Yes, as much as the anime is a bit different, I love that also. This DVD was already a must have as soon as it was out. These extras just make me want it all the much more. It also shows what excellent realistic 'hard' science ficiton this series is.
