Something meant for me, huh... I've always prefered fiction made for men, and fiction made for both genders, but I will give whatever manga appears in this magazine a try.

I guess your showing your age by saying this. If I was a woman, this magazine would apply to me since I turned 28 on Sept. 4.

Well, I'm a woman in my 20s who likes manga, and after looking up more info on them, all three of the series mentioned in this article sound interesting to me, so I'd say the magazine is doing a good job so far. Looking forward to seeing what other sorts of series get published in it.

Basically a Josei magazine that doing something different when it comes to the types of manga being serialized. Hopefully some SoL and action manga will be serialized.

I do have to admit the title threw me for a bit, I had to look again just to see if that was REALLY the title. That's cool, but aren't there already publications for women for all genres? But I would be curious to see what this one would entail.

Otaku women getting some recognition? That sounds awesome! Who is most likely to publish Kadokawa stuff in the states? I'd love to see some of these series.

Agreed. Lately, it seems like shoujo manga is all about school life so much that I hardly read any school life shoujo anymore. I'd really like it if this magazine had action, fantasy and magical girls(and boys) and historical themes in it.
Fantasy/Action/Historical shoujo just don't get the love they deserve nowadays unless its an otome game, bleh.
And it would be definitely interesting to see some SoLs aimed at otaku women.

^I agree, we need a bigger variety of genres in the shojo demographic! I'm hoping that Akatsuki no Yona will become popular enough to start a new trend.

It's not like this new magazine is trying to create some new thing. There are many magazines already that publish fantasy/action manga for women, some of them quite old – GFantasy, Zero-Sum, Gene, Aria, Avarus, Asuka.
Not many series from these magazines have been published in English, though that seems to be changing with Devils and Realist, Servamp and Karneval. But I think the main reason is that most people don't really consider these series to be "female-oriented" in the west, and instead try to categorize them as shounen. Kuroshitsuji still seems to confuse people, for example.
For some reason only school romances are considered to be shoujo, and only office stories about adult women are considered to be josei. I wonder why?

My guess would be because those types of shpujo and josei make up the bulk of Viz's "Shoujo Beat" line. It's a great line, but it lacks diversity.

I'll be interested to see what comes of this magazine. I love a romance, but it's nice to have some variety. Tokyopop used to publish a lot of shojo fantasy, and quite a lot of that came from Comic Zero-Sum.
