In about a year from now huh... This isn't the SNES era, doesn't need to take a whole year to localize a game anymore..

This is a localization of MH4G, which doesn't come out until the fall. Obviously they can't finish localizing it until after the game itself is finished.

I still don't get Monster Hunter. I mean I can see that it has some cool gameplay, but I like there to be a story surrounding it. I want to know why it is exactly I am taking on a gigantic beast and my emotional stake in it.

Monster Hunter's appeal is a group of people cooperating and coordinating in order to take down a gigantic beast. Tracking them down, laying traps, utilizing skills, and using teamwork.

Stuff like World of Warcraft taking on raids.

Even then, 4G is just an upgraded version of 4. Look at Square Enix and Bravely Default - the international version was based on the For the Sequel enhanced version and it was released in Europe a mere day after Japan.

While worldwide simultaneous releases of Japanese games would be nice, it's still the exception and not the rule. Even so, we're still seeing much quicker turn around than in the past. For all we know, "Fall 2014" could be as late as December, with the Western release being as early as February.

I'm playing Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate in single player mode too, other than in local cooperative, and it does have a plot: pretty basic, sure, but it's good for that type of game, and most importantly every character is well characterized, especially the most important ones, with pattern of speeches and such. Furthermore, the MH world itself is pretty unique and detailed; its scenario is quite good if you ask me.
That said, i can't wait for MH4 Ultimate, and I don't care if I have to wait; MH3 Ultimate was a huge improvement over the original game, so playing directly the better version of the newer episode will be more than enough for me.
I just wonder if they'll make an HD porting for WiiU... I hope they will for the local multiplayer, otherwise I could have to get a second 3DS.
