I'm sorry but unless I was a super huge fan of any artist/group I would never go to a men only concert. I can't help but think attendance at any one of those events must be light. Part of the concert experience to me is looking at and socializing with the ladies who go to the show.

Yes, because bad music and no women in the crowd make a great combination.
This seems like a ton of work to minimize profit.

I've only been to one segregated concert in Japan - Kaori Oda at Morph Tokyo, Roppongi on 1st September 2013, a few hours after she held a women-only concert at the same venue. On the positive side, this is good for those women who might not want to attend a standing-only venue in mixed company, but it does make it impossible for a mixed couple to attend the same concert.

Personally, I'm very familiar with gender segregated events because of my religious background, and I find the idea of a women's only show fun, but why do they do this? It's just weird to see gender segregation in a secular venue.

They have ladies-only nights in bars. It's not a really a big deal. They're just selling a different experience to both guys and gals.

This is the exact reason why I would be down with a female only show.
This is pretty interesting, though. I've never heard of this happening before. I guess didn't think that GRANRODEO would have a large enough male fanbase for that to be possible considering how popular Taniyama is with women as a voice actor. But all the more power to them if they do!

So I'm actually legit curious about why this is done. Are the shows tweaked and tailored for the specific audience? Or is it just to create a different kind of social atmosphere (like female-only workout rooms in gyms)?

Ugh, I cant stand the leftist slant of this article and some of the people's responses in this thread. I'm guessing the people that are upset at this also get upset when companies or establishments have a night dedicated to "Guys Night" or "Ladies Night".
Fact of the matter is, it's a stunt to get people who might not normally go to concerts to come. Many bands in Japan do this. Alot of times they will do different sets and tailor the show to the audience. Not only that, but my god, people act like these are the only shows they are doing when in fact, in the damn article, it says they are doing all audience shows as well.
Calling this "segregated", when the write clearly knows that word has a negative connotation in the US, is completely and utterly inflammatory for absolutely no reason. They aren't excluding ANYONE from coming and seeing them live, nor are they trying to put people down.

And this is partly why I hate going to live shows (and Im a guy). Between the people "on the prowl" and the drug users, it honestly just takes away from seeing the actual band live.

Wow, you went to Kaori's concert. I'm jealous.
On the other hand, as a girl, I would totally be sold to the idea of ladies-only concert. Sounds like fun, and definitely a different experience. And certainly makes it easier to invite a female friend along to watch the concert together.

I also like the idea of a ladies only concert because avoiding creepy guys is nice. It'd suck to not be able to bring my boyfriend, but it'd still be nice overall. Since yes, I do get creeps chasing my tail when I'm out with my boyfriend.

I see no problem with this, especially if they offer additional shows for all audiences.

To clarify my position stated above, I have no problem with these segregated concerts. It's just I'd never go to one with all guys there and I'm probably in the majority on that position. The female concerts would probably be a big hit, I can see that and do understand why women would like it.

FYI, GR is definitely popular enough to hold a men only live. There are many, many Rodeo Boys. Watch them at AniSama and you'll quickly find out how popular they are with both genders.

The tour will start with a performance at Tokyo's Studio Coast on May 18 and tour the country until July 6, performing at a total of nine different venues. What a curious concept; I wonder what the rationale for it is.....

What "leftist slant" are you talking about, pray tell? The headline? If so, then how would you have written it? This is not a rhetorical question; I am genuinely curious.
