From what I remember, Modern Magic Made Simple was a completely shitty book. For the author to write a book that is getting adapted by the West.....now I am really curious to see what it has in store.

Sounds like a promising enough premise, and I've always liked Obata's art style if nothing else. Having no prior exposure to this franchise I'll definitely be checking out this adaptation.

Wonder if there's any hope for a simulpub in Weekly Shonen Jump? I expect it'll at least be brought over in graphic novel format.

For a story like all you need is kill, they should get the Blame guy to do the manga adaptation. But it's the Shueisha fold, so I guess that was going to happen.

It's serialized in Young Jump though. I'm not aware of cross-publishing titles for the US WSJ. It's only been a subset of the Japanese WSJ as far as I know.

Since Shueisha titles are published through Viz, it also presents an odd situation if they were to release it here since it would be competing with the American OEL manga version by Nick Mamatas and Lee Ferguson. How would they differentiate the two?

The only thing I can think of is that the Sheisha's *Young Jump mags are Seinen, but Viz does not serialize any Seinen, nor do they categorize in the same manner.

config: I'm guessing they'd just sell the different adaptations to different markets. Though I've been asking that same question about them releasing the DB 3-in-1s with the color books, and whether or not those won't cannibalize sales for one another at one point.

Been waiting to hear from him since Bakuman ended. I'll be looking forward to this, I love his art. I'm surprised that he's not working with Ohba this time; I really liked the combo they made

I hope they'll work together on another manga, too. Maybe they will after this project, which shouldn't be a long series, should it?
