Yes! PACKERS WON THE SUPERBOWL! I owe a great big, "THANK YOU," to my 235 brothers and sisters in arms who helped this to succeed.
This was a lovely surprise to wake up to. (If only Bee & Puppycat had made it by this morning too; that'd've been the perfect double whammy, but it's close, so no worries) It's especially nice as I'm facing down a day of SAP accounts receivable training. Wooooo.... The $90 that I pledged to Dear Brother... were my first pledge to Anime Sols. This is a series that I've been interested in seeing for a while, all the more so after having loved The Rose of Versailles, which was also adapted from a manga by Ryoko Ikeda. I'm a little surprised that it took as long as it did to reach the goal as I would have thought that there was a larger base of interest for this title. Ah well, what we got was enough and I would like to think that those who pledged are pretty dedicated. I'm not so optimistic about the prospects for Prime Rose and the other 24-hour specials, but a man can dream. A man can dream... I look forward to getting the first set and pledging for the second one, although I hope that there's a break between them. Several things that I'm interested in supporting seem to have all fallen together in the last quarter of 2013 and Christmas is coming too. |

I went to bed when there was only $80 left to go, so I figured I would be waking up to this glorious news. I also put $90 down on this, and I'm definitely looking forward to getting it. Ever since I fell in love with Rose of Versailles 7 years ago, I have wanted to see this series. And now I get to own part of it! Here's hoping the rest of the sets make it as well.

This is awesome news. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy. Yes!!
Hopefully, older anime won't always have to depend on Kickstarter funding if more companies see there is an audience for it. |

Woo hoo! This is great news to hear! It seems the old-school fans really came through in a pinch. I just hope it doesn't keep coming down to the wire like this, I was honestly a bit down-hearted for a while there, but I'm glad things worked out in the end.

I would like to add that my job also made it possible as well. I sent in a request to have a copy ordered for the collection. So we'll have it for our students to view. I also have to contact Anime Sols for further details on the distribution of this project. Next stop 'Dear Brother set 2'. Looking forward to it. Congrats to Anime Sol for making this happen and a big thanks to those that made it possible for others to acquire this title.

I actually pulled my pledge a week ago since my money is a lil tight at the moment. Once the next set comes along, I'll probably add my support. I'd hate for only one set of this to be released here

I was sluggish and only put in my money just now. I kind of wanted to try to be the pledge that put it over the top for fun, but I missed it .
I'm a little curious why Dear Brother is asking several thousand less than any other series they've tried. I was a little surprised to find out the "Astro Boy Mag." that comes with my pledge was "Astro Boy Magazine", which I had never heard of. I thought I was going to be getting a refrigerator magnet. And did anyone else have slight trouble putting in their credit card's expiration date? I didn't realize I first that I had to delete the "MM" and "YYYY" manually before entering my numbers. They usually vanish on their own when you start typing. |

And I helped!
Yeah, I just got the $30 core, but yay! It made it! With time to spare! And it's already gone 440 over as of this typing, so that's good! Probably some holdouts there waiting for it to make it I guess. I think people will have more faith in AnimeSols once they have a set (any set) out, which should hopefully be soon. It'd boost my confidence in them for sure. Then they might be able to get pledges easier, but without pledges they can't make a set, so I realize it's a bit of a vicious cycle there. I didn't watch a single ep of Dear Brother yet, but Riyoko Ikeda's name is enough to convince me to just go for it. |

Excellent! I would have loved to have pledged money for this set as well, but sadly I couldn't because I live in Europe so I'm glad that it reached it's goal! I really hope that I'll be able to get my hands on a set as well because I've wanted to see Dear Brother for god knows how long now.

I think it'll be the opposite, since companies can see the shows are relying on less than 250 people, meaning many of the contributions have to account for the lack of support from more individuals. |

After the bs over Mami, it was kind of anticlimactic to see Dear Brother fulfilled just like that.
Surrender:
There definitely is a big audience for it here. This is one show for which fansub trading in the 90s finally paid off. It's just that there are still a lot of stragglers for this site in general. But Dear Brother was still a title with enough enthusiasm and demand for it, that it didn't get too uncomfortably close to the deadline.
Don't forget Black Jack. That's only got about 25+ days left. Kikaioh: Again, this is nothing. Mami only had 30 minutes left. But yeah, once the first round of discs come in, there should be more enthusiasm. Fronzel: I imagine it was a crappy seller in Japan, due to its subject matter, and second banana status to Rose of Versailles. walw: You gotta start somewhere. |

I'm happy that I got a second class for Fall term, so I was not forced to pull my pledge ... of all of unlicensed pre-mid90s anime I could think of, this was the very top of my list.

I prefer this to Rose of Versailles, which I didn't buy, so I'm surprised to hear that. And I'm not sure what you mean by its subject matter. I would be surprised if it were the yuri thing because it's not really all that gay, or at least as far as I've watched. I'd be surprised to hear this wasn't popular since I can see a lot of it in series like Maria-sama ga Miteru which has pretty much the same starting premise, although it takes it in a much kinder, gentler, sillier direction. |

I heard Dear Brother was banned in France and Italy after several episodes.
