The HUGE fandom reception is nothing short of lightning in a bottle, so of course they are going to try to ride the crazy train as far as it will take them.

I'd still love the idea of a straight up magical girl series without the emphasis on deconstruction, but I doubt that will actually happen.

With the money it's making, they'd be crazy not to. Anyway, just as long as they don't rush anything, I'll be quite happy with more of this series.

I just hope they don't stretch it out, and allow it to fall apart. But, like others have been mentioned, if they continue to make quality work, I'm all for more!

We should remember that Madoka still has just a one cour TV series, recap movies and new material movie - really, this isn't that much. Compare that to other franchises which have 3 TV shows, some of them being two cour and OVAs or, going another route, like five movies. I'm very reluctant to use the term "milking" until Madoka gets, at the very least, two cour TV series or maybe two more movies.

I watched the Madoka Magica niconama that took place last Saturday night, it features a talk session with Yuuki Aoi and Kalafina. The MC said that:
i) he talked to producer Iwakami (Atsuhiro), who mentioned that they actually did not plan to make more than the 1-cour late night anime series
ii) later in the interview, the MC mentioned that he heard from Urobuchi, when Madoka Magica began to attract a lot of attention, they weren't expecting it to be that big of a hit, the only merchandising they had for sale was Kyuubey stickers
I'm not fluent in Japanese, but that's what I understood from the talk session.

An interesting progression...
A half-season series, then compilation films then a sequel film, and now possibly back to a series format?
Why not go the now-popular route or GiTS: Arise and CG: Akito blah blah blah and have it be direct-to-theater movies?
