Can't wait for Ranma on BD and almost forgot that they were the ones who got Gargantia, totally looking forward to seeing it dubbed, can't wait to own it on BD.

As those Neon Alley addition make their way to BD I'll be getting those too (K, Magi etc.).

Looks like my wallet won't be getting any rest with these plus the Bandai rescues let alone new shows.

Motherfucker. I've been waiting years for them to reprint Monster. And just when I finally give up and start tracking down the OOP volumes...they finally decide to reprint it. FML.

The colored edition they are running in Weekly Shonen Jump is Dragon Ball Z, not Dragon Ball.

And I am really glad to hear the news about Ranma 1/2. Really glad they got the blu-rays too.

And I am both happy, but confused about the Monster re-release. I really don't understand their stance on Urasawa right now. They say the show is a bomb, they let the manga go OOP forever, and then now they re-release it after dropping their anime license? It just seems weird. I guess Urasawa can bring in some awards, but I heard he is hard to work with and has even barred all digital publication of his works.

And honestly, a part of me has died seeing Viz get Deadman Wonderland after seeing Yen Press's fantastic releases of Blood Lad. Blood Lad was apparently hold up in licensing wars over it for a long time, and seeing these Yen Press releases, it was totally worth it. I assumed Deadman was under the same situation, and probably a Viz vs Yen Press deal again too, but man why did Viz have to come out on top. Now I have to wait through singles until just before 2015 before they get past where Tokyopop was, and there is almost no chance of color pages. They could have at least tried something to try and appeal to past readers.[/i]

There is no "Dragon Ball Z" manga in Japan. It's all called "Dragon Ball". "Z" was just made up for the TV series.

Yeah, I wish the TV series could get a full release. I bought the first set almost immediately and its been years. If they didn't think they could sell it they never should have released it to begin with.

Urasawa is probably the greatest mangaka of our time, it's such a crime that he doesn't get half as much love as he should.

I don't know if what you said about him barring digital publication is true, but it is believable. If 20th Century Boys is any indication, he probably prefers large volumes of physical media, stacked up on shelves. But that's extrapolating quite a bit.

Ah. Yeah. I knew that, but they always kept them as two seperate series for the manga here. Just checked though and they are infact serializing it as Dragon Ball. I got confused because they restarted the number count and added DBZ to the chapter titles so they are like DBZ Chapter 01.

Yeah. I kinda feel like they didn't try enough, or maybe actually just didn't want to even. They have just said it didn't do as well as they hoped, but I wonder how bad that actually meant it did. I was watching it on TV when it was airing, and I even knew people who barely watch anime found it and were watching it and getting it on-demand too. I always wanted to go back to it, but I wish they would have either finished releasing the dvds or gave more word of when they were taking it off on-demand so I could get it there. I don't know if it was something about there team up with Manga, but I think the series was probably just more work then they wanted, not that they couldn't have make it profitable.

I think it was Ed Chavez or someone from Kodansha who mentioned it when talking about difficulties of releasing him as an artist, and more specifically Billy Bat.

For the longest time I only had the first five volumes. Then I ordered volume 7 from Amazon.com, managed to find 8 to 12 for 50% off at a nearby Fully Booked, and got 13 to 18 from Amazon.com. Finally I bought a used (but still pricey) copy of volume 6 from eBay.com on Thursday, so of course Viz announces a reprint.

I wonder if the 2-in-1 edition will have a larger trim size.

I thought they were rereleasing it in anticipation of Guillermo del Toro's planned HBO series? Although that's only a guess on my part.

I'm just wondering: does the color reprint of the Dragon Ball manga cover the WHOLE series, or just the Dragon Ball Z half? I'll only get it if it covers both. Otherwise, I'll just stick with the regular editions. I prefer consistency, and as far as the manga goes, I prefer the original DB.
