I might be in but this is definitely add more to the Zelda mythos and crazy timeline from intense fans. While this falls after the first Link to the Past and how does it effect the later games timelines.

So what happened to Nintendo's "our next 3ds Zelda game will be an original title" bs? Clearly, what Miyamoto wants, MIyamoto gets, and he was on record saying he wanted a Link to the Past sequel, so I guess that's what we're stuck with. Of the three options Nintendo was mulling over, this was the one I wanted the least. I Hope this doesn't mean they can't still possibly do a Majora's Mask remake as well. You'd think it'd be easy enough for Nintendo to say "Hey Grezzo, since you've already got all those Ocarina of Time sprites anyway, why don't you remake Majora's Mask while we're making a follow-up to a game that the majority of gamers today have either never played or at least never experienced during its initial release. I mean seriously NIntendo, you finally decide to make a numbered sequel (at least in Japan) in the Zelda series, and it's a follow-up to a 20 year-old game that's only beloved by fossilized gaming relics who still hope that new-fangled 3d-environment from Mario 64 is just a fad"... wow, where'd that come from? Realistically, I should be used to having my video-gaming heart stomped on. As a Mega Man fan, Capcom has been doing it to me for years. I guess it's just time Nintendo joined the band wagon. Anyway, I don't hate LttP, it's just not even remotely close to my favorite Zelda game (based on my earlier response you can probably tell which one is), and I never needed (or felt like it required) a sequel. I suppose I'll just have to take solace from the fact that it at least doesn't appear to be "Wind Waker"-style (god, how I hate that big-eyed, freakish version of Link). That's just what console gamers have to put up with next, and fortunately I'm out of the console game at this point (no TV = no worries).

I was wondering about the subtitle (it was omitted in the European Nintendo Direct, too)... Having a numbered sequel for a Zelda game feels a bit strange, but it isn't really important.
I can't wait to see more of this new game, the fact that Link turns "flat" is really interesting, gameplay-wise, and the original ALttP has one of the best overworld in the whole series! I hope the new dungeons will be as good as the ones in the original game, too, which still are among the best in the series as well. ^^
By the way, I suggest to 3DS owners to download and watch the trailer on the handled; the 3D effect is awesome! The music, too, by the way, especially towards the end of the trailer!

Holy hell man. Did LttP kill your parents or something?

I'm dubious as to the point of this game other than gimmick strapped to a Zelda game, though we should not be surprised as this is coming from Nintendo. Funny how no one has mentioned Earthbound coming to the VC at all. I would have thought there were some passionate EB fans around here somewhere....

I have a feeling Todd will mention it during his next article, then use it to bring up the fact that we still don't have Mother 3 in the U.S.
