What are the odds that the Gurren Lagann DVD set will cost way more than Bandai's OOP Anime Legends release? At least I can hope Aniplex does a regular edition later on for people who don't have cash bursting from every vein in their body...
Edit: Jesus christ on a pogo stick, $550 for the Blu-ray set? And $140 for DVD? I'm not paying that much for Gurren Lagann. Those are just sale prices too! Aniplex, you have lost your MIND.

So that happened.
Pro: Gurren Lagann back up and Valvrave will be viewable.
Con: Price for Gurren Lagann will probably also go up.

If Aniplex were to use its powers for good and get the legendary ADV dub on their re-release that'd be great.
I'd buy the imported blu-ray set if it had it.
The original Gurren Lagann dub sucked. Bandai got what it paid for there. Since I think we are all assuming that we're going to be paying "through the nose" for this re-release I'd like to get the most I can for the exorbitant sum I'll have to shell out for this, and the ADV dub is the ticket for that.
If Aniplex were to redub GL, which is a pipe dream, I know, but if they were to do I might start to see that they aren't the pure evil, Emperor Palpatine of Japanese anime companies.

Glad I picked up Bandai's Anime Legends DVD release of Gurren Lagann when I did.
A pity about the BD release. Body part sell off for that price.

I considered the Gurren Lagann BD set when it was first revealed to have English subs but I couldn't justify the purchase. Still can't. Even less so than before, in fact, because of where I'm at financially. Maybe later in the year if it doesn't sell out.

The Blu-ray Disc box set will be an import of the "Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Complete Blu-ray Box" that will ship in Japan in June. The set will ship in the U.S. and Canada on June 24, and will retail for US$669.98.
Gotta love Aniplex.

I'm glad Gurren Lagann wasn't out of print for long, it's such a good show. I bet it'll look pretty on Blu-ray too! This new release is pretty pricey though...

I feel sorry for the idiots who pay that much money for an anime series.

Well, don't I feel stupid for not snagging that Bandai Gurren Lagann DVD set back when it was 30 bucks. I was sorta hoping Aniplex would've done another $150 Blu-ray set like they did for Durarara instead of an import release.

Jesus f-ing christ. I didn't buy the GL Anime Legends set because I knew that it would get licensed by another company eventually, but that price is insane.

Rather than another pointless discussion on the price of an imported Japanese BD from Aniplex, let's ask ourselves what is really important. Does this mean that Crunchyroll might be able to get a legal stream of TTGL? I will be very happy if I can see a legal stream of Kamina in all his glory in Japanese.

I got the DVD LE sets that Bandai released years ago. I am a huge fan of the show and I am seriously tempted to buy the Blu-ray set but I don't have the money for it (not meant as a complaint about the price I would gladly pay that price but I just can't right know). I hope that in a few years they do a NA Blu-ray set release because it is a show I have been wanting on Blu-ray for a long time.
