I remember reading somewhere that Azuma doesn't think Yotsubato! would work very well as an anime, as it's too slow paced. It would be great if there was one, but from the sounds of it, it's not going to happen.
I'm waiting for my copy of volume 12 to show up in the mail. Can't wait!

One of my favorite manga that I'm currently reading. It's so refreshing.

I remember reading that Tony Taka likes to read a few pages of Yotsuba&! every night, just to relax.

I always wondered about this: "Hey, Mrs. Ayase, mind if we take your very mature teenage daughter camping with three curiously unattached young men, two of whom who are interested in yiour oldest daughter? Wait, we'll take your grade schooler while we're at it and her little friend too! Relax, one of us has a daughter of his own, obtained under completely unexplained but perfectly normal circumstances. Really."

Just, what?! I like the series, love it maybe and I'll get volume 12 as well but there's something just completely wrong here!

Yotsuba is an awesome comic. I've read every issue that's been printed when ADV was publishing it to Yen Press. I've enjoyed every story and always found something to chuckle about. I would love to see Yotsuba as an animated feature. Hell, there's been tons of rumors and fan buzz trying to push for one but I remember what the author stated. There's something about the manga that works visually on paper, much of the in jokes and silliness are these moments that you find yourself like, "heh, that's funny" or "Oh, gawd". It's like an "you had to be there moment" something you can't explain. You just get it. That's why the series works so well on paper. So now I can see why the manga would be hard to translate into a animated series. Azumanga Daioh it is not. Even though that used the 4-panel gag formula it worked.

I'm curious to know how long Azuma is going to continue writing the story.

Oh gawd I'm dying here. Must be my cold coming to it's end. Y'know they're right. That thought never crossed my mind. Is the message we're trying to send that you can trust your kids with some strange men just because we have a little oddball kid that comes from a country on the left? Can you truly be sure you're kids are ok? It's 10pm do know where your kids are? Do you allow them to hang out with kindly, strange, unattached men who act just as childish as a 4 yr old? Laughing Laughing Laughing

for some reason I thought The series started in Spring, at the beginning of the school year not Summer vacation, so I thought I'd scan the first volume to find a reference... and of course I ended up reading the entire book.

It's addictive like that.

It does indeed start at the beginning of Summer vacation but I figure the end point is still obvious. The series will end once a year has passed and Yotsuba has started Kindergarten. How long that will take...
Well, it's starts in mid-June or so? And volume 12 sounds like it gets to the end of October? So, 4 1/2 months covered in ten years... I guess we have another 20 or so to look forward to... Laughing
