Good game Capcom, but shame on you for locking the additional characters in the game. The promotional videos used some amazing cutscenes but I was disappointed when I realized that they were removed.

I really want this game, but it'll have to wait. There are too many good games being released recently.

This!
It's not even the fact that there are extra characters locked in the game that upsets me, it's the fact that we have to wait until AFTER the Vita version is released in the fall to buy them so for me, instead of buying now and waiting almost a year for Capcom to release them when i most likely won't care about the game anymore, i'll just wait until all the DLC's available before buying which is exactly what i'm going to do especially since i have other important stuff to buy between now & then.

Didn't bother to read the review, just clicked on it to see if they bothered publishing a video game review on an anime website just so we could see another person whine about the DLC. Wasn't disappointed.
Yes, it is annoying; no, it doesn't make the game worse. If it wasn't there, there'd be nothing to whine about. What is there is very enjoyable. Get over it. That goes for everybody.

That DLC bullshit is what is preventing me from buying this. I'm never going to support this this kind of ridiculous gouging. And I really like Tekken too .

This. I'm sorry, but I'm not paying for something that's not all there. Call it whining, I call it voting with my wallet.

Wait a minute: you can't pair SFs with Tekken fighters on the same team? I mean, the game looks really good and all, but not being able to form dream tag teams really takes much of the allure out of it. That, and I'm not too fond of the traditional/Tekken Tag-esque rule of a team losing if just one partner dies. It sort of takes some of the neater aspects out of team-ups and doesn't feel all that different from playing a single-player mode.

I'm pretty sure he meant they don't mingle in the story sequences or cutscenes - meaning f you have Guile and, uh, I dunno, that Tekken panda on the same team, that won't be reflected in the story mode cutscenes.

Yes it is. The game is fully featured, and gives people exactly what it promises on the box, and exactly what Capcom has said it would include.
The fact that six months down the line (or however long it is) they're going to make more available doesn't make it incomplete. And no, you're not entitled to that stuff, nor do you 'own' it just because that data is on the disk, either.

It's not exactly about "entitlement", but what Capcom did with SF X Tekken is like buying a dozen eggs, but only 10 eggs are in the carton... But, wait, those last two eggs will be in that carton in a few months!
Or maybe you bought a book, but you're not allowed to read specific portions of it until a later date. Or buying a movie or TV seres on DVD or BD, but not being able to access certain content after a certain amount of time, and even then you have to pay extra for that extra content.

I'm not really much of a fighting game fan in the first place, but I watched a couple of guys stream this together yesterday and it really does not look to be worth $60. It's pretty neat that two players can be part of a single team, but the game basically just looks like Street Fighter IV with some Tekken characters thrown in.

If the DLCs are integral to the game, then it is incomplete.
But if the DLCs are just extras, then they're......... extras, bonus.
It's like bonus to VN games: if there are 10 endings including the true ending, then later on, they add 3 additional endings for the fun of it - then that's fine. Or like the expansions to Dragon Age or racing games that ya don't have to get. If they put all the characters there from the start, but then later on, they out-of-the-blue make available yet even more characters, then it's like how ya started. Or just wait for the later Game Of The Year edition that has everything to entice the on-the-fence consumers who waited.

WRT Gems, I don't really understand some of the complaints since they aren't "freebies" when each one involves some tradeoff, like how autoescape from throws depletes your super meter. It seems like an opponent can use that gem against you, by constantly throwing to prevent execution of your super. In fact the autoblock gem would make this worse for the newbie. So even though there's always going to be an issue of balance, it seems like gems can add to the overall strategy.

No, it's exactly about entitlement. Once again, it is annoying that there are 12 locked characters on the disc, but they're characters we wouldn't know about if people didn't hack the disc. The game already has 38 characters (+Cole and some copy-cats in the PS3 version) and all of the Tekken characters (and Poison) are basically brand-new, in terms of playstyle at least. The game has a lot more content than SF4 did, and no one (who actually cares about fighting games) complained when that was full price when it came out (and it only had 6 new characters), even though it was also an 'incomplete' game.
I just don't get how having locked characters on the disc instantly makes the game 'A RIPOFF' vs not having locked characters on the disc, but you know more are coming, and for all we know they could've been finished by the time the first one came out as well.

I don't support the concept of DLC while having to pay to $60 for a game. I caved in for Mass Effect 2, but I'm not going to for 3 pretty much for those reasons and after the SSFIV and MvC3 debacles, I'm just not going to support the business practices of Capcom and other game companies that take on this strategy. Call it whining or wrongful entitlement, but for some of us, coming across $60 plus the amount for various DLCs is not easy.
