If only this would be licensed here along with season 2. I keep hearing rumors that season 1 didn't do well here though.

It wouldn't surprise me if K-ON did poorly here. Not for the reasons many might jump too (niche show, over the top cuteness whatever) but Bandai keeps putting them out in singles instead of full sets or half season sets. Maybe if the first season was 12-13 episodes it wouldn't be so bad.

Boy, I wonder why? It couldn't of been the singles release, that doesn't make sense. The DVD-quality audio for a show about music definitely can't be it. Surely the replaced song had nothing to do with it. The LE's that many fans anticipated that never came to fruition probably aren't the reason either. The lack of Japanese extras, maybe? Eh, doubtful.

I just don't get why the show wouldn't sell well for Bandai.

ya try explaining that to the japanese and deal with their worst fears of reverse importation ever. I am shocked they even got the bluray. that is probably what is tanking the sales and forcing them into singles.

A 40% drop is about typical for the 2nd weekend.

Singles for a 13 series is kind of out of my buying habits, so I was waiting for an inevitable BD season collection like Queens Blade got.

lol Bandai license did tons of things that makes no sense
1. Replaced the music that made this series go around? big mistake
2. dubbed voice all sound far too alike.
3. released far late, people who wants to watch it already seen it.
---------------------------------------------
anyways, grossing about $6.8million in two weekends is pretty good for a non-mainstream show like this.

and believe it or not, blu-ray looks better and more crisp then the dvd when played on my 65" TV, (made absolutely no difference on the computer screen though).
I bought blu-ray singles japan version for season 2 ($720) and dvd singles Taiwan licensed version for season 1 ($140)
I wouldn't even buy the English licensed version if it was $1, waste of space.

According to this site, current K-ON Movie box office numbers are at around 690 million yen. Or nearly 9 million USD at current conversion rates. Very impressive.

If so, that means it beat out Naruto and One Piece's last movies.

The Toriko/OP 3D movie?

Yeah, it surpassed that after just two weeks.
