Journalist: K-ON! Film Earns 194 Million Yen in 2nd Weekend

The film journalist Hiroo Otaka reported on Monday that Naoko Yamada and Kyoto Animation's K-ON! anime film earned 193.5 million yen (about US$2.49 million) in its second weekend at the Japanese box office. That is 61 percent of the film's box office take during its first weekend. It dropped in ranking from #2 to #4, according to Kogyo Tsushinsha.
Three new live-action movies appeared in the top 10 during the December 10-11 weekend. Kamen Rider x Kamen Rider Fourze & OOO Movie Taisen Megamax opened at #1, and Real Steel opened at #3 with 277.67 million yen (US$3.567 million) after three days. (It opened on Friday, December 9.). Trailing K-ON! at #5 was the new film Genji Monogatari: Sennen no Nazo with 163.76 million yen (US$2.103 million).
Last weekend's #1 film, the live-action film adaptation of the Kaibutsu-kun manga, slipped to #2 after two weekends at the top.
