Unsurprising, but mildly disappointing to me at any rate. I was hoping that Ruri or Ika Musume would manage to pull an upset, but I figured from the start that this would go to one of the girls from Madoka.

Saimoe's is a popularity contest so of course the 'flavour of the month' will come out on top. Still, would be nice of Erica got the surprise victory.

Madoka has a clear path to the win. Its a shame that Homura lost so early, since she is the best character in Madoka...

There's no way Erica wins. Add "Saimoe Tournament 2011" to the long list of popularity contests that Madoka has won this year.
What a shame. I was hoping Ruri or Ika-chan would win it, too. Now let's get ready for a Madoka/Mami faceoff with the former beating out the latter by a head. Not like it was much of a horserace to begin with, but it should get interesting.

A friend told me that some people (or just a couple) were "stuffing the ballot box" so to speak so that Homura lost.
Which is really sad.

I'm going to disagree with that statement. Homerun lost to BiriBiri on the very first day of the tournament. Considering that Mikoto Misaka has always been a strong contender and the typical first day rush, I doubt that ballot stuffing was the likely cause of Homura's defeat.

If it has to be a Madoka girl, I'd personally rather see Kyouko take it all. While Homura was my favorite of the girls, Kyouko was a close second, so I'd be happy if she pulled it off.

As I understand it, there was actual evidence found regarding the cheating and Misaka completely fell apart in her very next match after the cheater(s) were caught.
