2ch Forum's Anime Saimoe Tournament 2011 Quarterfinals

The Anime Saimoe Tournament is an annual poll in which users from Japan's 2channel message board vote on the most moe female anime character of the past year.
Almost any female character in a television anime, anime film, original video anime (OVA), or web anime released in Japan between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011 is eligible for the tournament. The main exceptions are characters from 18+ anime, who are not eligible.
Foreigners are technically capable of participating in the tournament; English-language instructions on how to vote have been provided by an Anime Saimoe fan site.
The quarterfinals results went as follows, with vote counts:

Madoka Kaname, Kyouko Sakura and Mami Tomeo all represent the Puella Magi Madoka Magica anime series. Aside from Sayaka Miki, who got eliminated this round, fellow Puella Magi Madoka Magica member Homura Akemi and witch Charlotte entered the tournament only to lose to Mikoto Misaka (Toaru Kagaku no Railgun OVA/A Certain Magical Index II) and Sui Shijima (Hana-Saku Iroha) in the first round, respectively.
Erica Hartmann of Strike Witches 2 is the last remaining, non-Puella Magi character left in the field. Hartmann, who was the only Saimoe veteran going into this year's top eight, has already went beyond her previous best. In 2009, she made her Saimoe debut but failed to make it past the second round losing to quarter-finalist Koromo Amae from mahjong anime Saki. Hartmann and the rest of the Strike Witches cast was not eligible to participate in 2010.
Based on number of votes, the quarterfinals winners are currently ranked as follows:
- Mami Tomoe - Puella Magi Madoka Magica - 710
- Kyouko Sakura - Puella Magi Madoka Magica - 657
- Erica Hartmann - Strike Witches 2 - 383
- Madoka Kaname - Puella Magi Madoka Magica - 371
The rest of this year's matches will be played out as follows (dates represent local Japanese time):
- 11/02: Kyouko Sakura vs. Erica Hartmann (Match A)
- 11/03: Madoka Kaname vs. Mami Tomoe (Match B)
- 11/05: Winner of Match A vs. Winner of Match B
