If you had a kingdom you could probably afford the bluray.

Why the first, second, and seventh movies? Well, I understand why they would show the first two but then skip all the way to seven, wouldn't that spoil everything?
Still, if this was near me I'd go to it, $15 to see at least two movies (especially if you do the math, each movie is about $50 so that would be a hundred dollars) is a pretty decent deal.

Showing the first, second, and seventh is probably the worst way to promote this. They should have just stuck to first, second, and third. It's a great overview of the themes in the entire series. Maybe they were afraid the rape in the third movie wouldn't be kosher...?
I'm guessing this is just a way to gather some of the fans for some Q&A with the producers.

I could fly across the country, watch the movies and still spend less than the cost of the blu-ray set... Though I also don't get why they'd show the 7th movie instead of the 3rd. Seems like that's the perfect way to get people to pick up the set, leave people hanging for the remaining 4 movies. Or does the order not matter for this?

Why spend the money on a theatre showing to promote it if you're also only releasing it via such prohibitively expensive means? Are there really that many people out there would would buy this at that price that don't already know about it?

Ahhh...I'm going to try to make it to this but I might not because of the new semester... Guess I might have to wait till I get my Blu-ray set. I really wanted the theater experience

It will be long sold out before it gets that low.

well, the movies themselves were released out of order. Purely chronologically, it flows from #2 -> #4 -> #3 ... BUT story wise, movie #7 is actually a continuation--the second half--of movie #2

It doesn't matter where they premiere it, or when or how. As long as they stick to that price tag, no one will give two, or even three flying shits about it. It's a moot and pointless effort unless they actually try to put some work into a proper localization job.

This too. Seriously. What in Peter's name is Aniplex snorfing. Whatever it is, it's some goofy stuff.

While the seventh movie is the "second half" to movie 2, it still requires prior knowledge of the 6 previous movies.
If anything they should be showing either in this order:
2,4,3,1 ,5 6,7, or simply the way they were released.
Chronologically speaking though the order is 2,7,4,3,1,5,6, but as I said, this order doesn't make as much sense without having seen all 7 at least once beforehand.

That's what makes it so great. It's been a while since I had seen a " You're playing it in the wrong order ". The movies premiered out of order.
You had to put the story together though a couple years of viewings.

They can't show all of them, but they apparently wanted to tell as much of the whole story as they could.
