Click the Sports Nippon link in the article. You can find a picture of him and a woman dressed up as Rei there.

I love it.

EDIT: And they appear to be singing karaoke. Very Happy

Yes, dressing up as Gendo will convince people you're a competent electee with no hidden agendas.

It makes me laugh that Japanese politicians are following Taro Aso's "pander to otaku" formula.

Here's hoping in the 2012 American elections they decide the nerd vote is strong and they have to cosplay as Star Wars characters and appear at Comic-con to shore up that demo.

Well...It would certainly work in Obama's favor.

LOL! I just had a mental image of the opening scene from Iron Man 2 being re-enacted at Comic-con. When the suit comes off ..... ITS RON PAUL!

Also, is Gendo reallllly the best cosplay choice for someone running for politics?

Yes, that was certainly my initial thought. Gendo ruling the country? No thanks! But then, when you cosplay, you have to play to your physical type. Plus, being Gendo might be more convincing to the otaku than dressing as Astro Boy or some other mainstream do-gooder. Bonus points if he soaked his feet in a tub of cold water.

Beats appearing as one of the SEELE tombstone things.
But yeah, I get your point Razz I think they should have had someone come in as Emperor Charles though.

This is why the American political sphere is so uninteresting to people. Dressing up as Spider-man or Superman would get more people involved and focused, I'm absolutely sure of it. Laughing

Oh god! I literally did a loud snigger to myself this morning. It's brilliant to think of someone in such power enjoying cosplay, isn't it? Smile

Makes me wonder if, when presenting the yearly budget to parliament (or whatever equivalent Japan has), and it's particularly bad, he sits his head atop folded hands and looks stern. Or even pushes up his glasses so they catch the light, looking down disdainfully at his subordinates. Laughing

How are those two statements different?
2channel who's URL is 2ch.net.
Or was he posting on 2ch, with economic articles.
Needs more grammar to sort the ambiguity out.
